Georgia’s Energy Sector Achievements, Challenges and Outlook

A half day workshop on Georgia’s energy policy will be organized On August 5 2016 10:00 - 15:00 in Courtyard Marriott Hotel.

The overall Goal of the workshop is to raise the quality of energy policy debate in pre-election period to assure more robust policies and more coordinated action of various stakeholders in Georgia’s energy sector.

The objectives are to:

  • Highlight the main energy security challenges of Georgia and discuss alternative ways of addressing them;
  • Review the development of Georgia’s Energy Sector in recent years and draw the lessons learned for consideration in future energy policies
  • Discuss the need for energy reform and policies to be implemented in relation to EU Georgia Association Agreement and expected membership in Energy Community (EnC)

 

Participants: The workshop will state and private sector actors, international donors and financial institutions, diplomats, civil society actors and sector specialists. Representatives of political parties are invited in order to address the issues highlighted at the workshop in their respective energy programs. Format: The workshop will be conducted in a format of presentations followed by roundtable discussion.

The workshop is organized by World Experience for Georgia (WEG) under the funding of Open Society Georgia Foundation and is supported by USAID G4G program implemented by Deloitte.
