Raising the Quality of Policy Debates in Pre-Election Period in Georgia
The main goal of this project is to raise the standards of discourse on energy policies among political parties and public and thus create the safeguards against compromising the interests of Georgia’s energy security, sustainable development and European integration in pre-election period. This will be done through suggesting the important issues for debate, monitoring party programs, benchmarking against best practices and long term country’s interests, commenting and informing the public on critical aspects of energy policy to be addressed.
The project objectives are:
- Critical examination of ongoing energy issues before the elections and preparation of a policy paper for reference and use by political parties, CSOs and all stakeholders in energy sector.
- Setting the standards of pre-election discourse on energy issues through outreach and communicating the core energy policy problems to politicians and public by increasing public awareness against populistic and potentially harmful policies.
- Monitoring the process of energy debate, assessment of energy programs of political parties, commenting on relevance and compliance with the interests of long term energy security, sustainability and EU integration in energy sector.
- Development of recommendations for the energy policy and strategy to be followed by the new government with the emphasis on winning party’s energy program in order to assure protection of country’s values and interests of EU integration and progress towards free liberal market democracy.
