First Seminar-Workshop Of The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Committee On Energy Security
On September 19, 2012 the European Parliament organized the first Seminar-Workshop of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Energy Security – “EU-Eastern European Partners cooperation in energy security: achievements, barriers and prospects”.
The Program covered issues related to common energy security goals of the EU and EaP countries including:
– Current landscape of EU-Eastern Partnership countries’ energy cooperation and prospects for development including energy cooperation through the European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership Platform on Energy Security, Energy Community and INOGATE program:
– Developing integrated and interconnected energy markets by regulatory harmonization and integration of electricity and gas networks;
– Supporting infrastructure development and diversifying routes for energy supplies; development of common-interest and Trans-European infrastructure projects, diversification of oil and gas supplies;
– Improving energy efficiency and developing new sources of energy including renewable energies
Murman Margvelashvili was invited to participate as an expert in the seminar. He gave a presentation for the members of European Parliament and Parliaments of EaP countries“EU and EaP – Energy Cooperation Common interests, Opportunities and Barriers – A Glance from Georgia”
The workshop resulted in involved discussion and debate on the issues under consideration.
