In November 2013 USAID officially launched its new Hydro Power and Energy Planning Project (HPEP). Under this project WEG was contracted by Deloitte Consulting to provide support in developing the Energy Policy and Energy Strategy working process and providing training for the ministry of energy and other relevant parties in long-term Energy Planning using Georgia MARKAL model. Specifically WEG shall:

•  Review and comment on energy policy and energy strategy white papers
•  Develop statement of tasks and coordinate the meetings of four energy strategy working groups
•  Review and update data and structures of Georgia MARKAL model, develop main alternative scenarios, conduct MARKAL runs and formulate policy briefs
•  Develop and deliver the curriculum for training of Ministry of Energy’s (MoE) and other relevant Parties.
